University Merit and Talent Scholarships are awarded to students based on merit and/or talent. Some of these scholarships are supported by the generosity of alumni and friends, and are awarded for tuition and fees only. University of Relands.
There are some scholarships based on merit which are available to those who are not financially needy. Students who are entering for the first time apply for University scholarships through the University of Redlands Application for Admission or the Common Application.
Students are required to be in good academic standing in order to be eligible for re-enlistment of the award on an annual basis. University of Relands, Some talent scholarships will call for students to audition and/or submit a portfolio or writing sample.
Students are reminded that University policy does not allow for multiple or significant institutional scholarships to be awarded to a single student. University of Relands, Your financial aid award letter will always include your eligibility from multiple institutional sources, in the order they were received (first in first out).
Achievement Award
Achievement Award-up to $37,000 per year
Awarded to students with superior records of academic achievement and who have shown an unusual level of leadership and achievement in school or community activities.
Achievement Award: University of Relands, All applicants are considered for an award during the application review process. Awards will be based on the information provided on application.
Academic good standing: A grade point average of at least 3.0 (B average).
Hunsaker Scholarship
About eight incoming freshmen receive the Richard and Virginia Hunsaker Scholarship Prize each year. This programme of scholarships is for outstanding candidates who demonstrate high achievement in their academic studies, leadership and contribution in their schools and local communities.
The University of Redlands Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) determines demonstrated financial need, and the amount of the Hunsaker Scholarship awards is based on that determination, after calculating the award from the FAFSA.
Finalists will be awarded an additional $2,000 if they interview for the scholarship. Hunsaker Scholars who are not also eligible for financial need are eligible to receive a $7,000 University of Relands, Hunsaker Scholarship supplement to any other Redlands Achievement Scholarship she/he might have earned.

Art Award
Awards up to $3,500 per year are available for art.There is a $3,500 per year art award.
Basis: Awards are given based on a sample of work (no portfolio please), as determined by the Art department.
Submission: Apply to the University by regular decision (Jan. 15). Examples of your work (up to 12 pieces) that best demonstrates your artistic talents, should be uploaded to your Redlands portal after your admission to the University. Accepted formats: .doc, .docx, .pdf, .jpg, .png, .bmp.
Renewal policy: Academic good standing (2.5 GPA) and departmental evaluation of work; major required.

Creative Writing Award
The Creative Writing Award will be given to a maximum of $3,500 per year.
Basis: Awards (as determined by the Creative Writing department) are based on one of the following: five poems, two short stories, a chapter from a novel, two personal essays, and/or three literary journalism pieces (books, movies, music or other example reviews).
Submission: Regular decision (Jan. 15) application to the University. Examples of your work should be uploaded to your Redlands portal once admitted to the University.
Renewal policy: Academic good standing (have a minimum 2.5 GPA) and a major requirement.
Music Award
Up to $10,000 per year for Music Award.
Performance: Departmental selection based upon audition; music application required. Call Conservatory of Music at (909) 748-8014.

Submission: Music awards are offered as a result of application and audition to the Conservatory of Music. While the program is a “rolling” one, music candidates are encouraged to apply concurrently with their general application to the University and should audition for admission to the Conservatory of Music.
Renewal policy: Academic good standing with at least a 3.0 GPA with requirement of private music study and participation in major conducted ensemble.
Theatre Award
Theatre Award-up to $8,000 per year
Basis: Awards are based on the Department of Theatre and Dance’s statement of interest in the scholarship and a theatre résumé. Performance students can send in an audition demonstrating their performance skill (3 minutes max, no on-campus auditions).
A portfolio of annotated slide samples (showing student’s involvement in the creation of the work) may be presented by students interested in design and production.
Submission: Must be made by regular decision (Jan. 15) to the University, and include interest in the award on the application. Your work should be included in your application status portal, such as example papers. Accepted formats: .doc, .docx, .pdf, .jpg, .png, .bmp, .avi, .flv, .mlv, .m2v, .m4v, .mov, .mpeg, .mp4, .webm.
Renewal policy: Academic good standing (2.5 GPA) and department evaluation of work; major required.
Yuhaaviatam Excellence in Leadership Scholarship
Thanks to the generous support of the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, the University of Redlands can offer more assistance and instruction to Native American/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian students than any other college or university in the Inland Empire.
Qualifications include active community involvement and leadership in a Native community. On graduating, all scholarship recipients are expected to bring important contributions to the lives of Native communities.
To be considered for the San Manuel Scholarship, students must be selected based on financial need as determined by the University of Redlands Office of Student Financial Services, and data from the FAFSA. The amount of the San Manuel Scholarship will range from $5,000 to the total cost, as determined by the Office of Student Financial Services, based on the student’s financial need.

Outside Scholarships
Students who are awarded scholarships (outside the school) that can be applied to their FULL cost may have this added to their financial aid package and may be able to have their loan balance reduced or to adjust their financial aid package.
There are also external scholarships that are offered by communities, employers or corporations. There are numerous opportunities and we hope students will do their research about the scholarship.
